The Ministry of Culture in India allocated ₹ 1103 crores to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), after its annual expenditure was increased by 13% in the annual Union Budget. An extensive exercise in digitisation of ancient inscriptions is also underway, according to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Besides, the Ministry of Culture has also allocated ₹ 1,046.22 crore to the 34 autonomous bodies under its purview, including “akademis, museums, libraries and other cultural institutions across India, to support their programmes and activities.”
